The European Documentation Centre (EDC) is one of the European Union's information networks. It aims to raise public awareness of issues affecting everyday life and scientific research related to European integration by systematically recording and documenting European publications.
Objectives of the EDC
- to provide the academic community and the general public with free and effective access to printed and electronic information sources on the European Union, its legislation and institutions.
- to organize and host lectures, workshops, conferences and seminars on EU-related topics.
- to foster close cooperation with other EDCs in Greece and abroad.
The EDC offers
- Access to electronic sources and a collection of printed publications related to the EU and its policies. These include official publications, annual reports, periodicals, statistical reports, handbooks and brochures, etc.
Monographs and printed journals in the library's collection can be searched for using the online catalogue (OPAC).
- Free distribution of EU material published by the Publications Office of the European Union.
Location and Opening Hours
The EDC is located on the ground floor of the Distance Library and Information Centre at the Hellenic Open University (183 Patron-Klaous, Patras) and is open to HOU academic community members and the general public during the library's opening hours.

EDC Collection
The collection consists exclusively of publications from the Publications Office of the European Union. These include monographs, periodicals and information leaflets, all of which are provided free of charge in accordance with the terms of the Agreement. While most of the publications are in English, some are in Greek.
All materials can be located via the Central Library catalogue using the keyword 'ΚΕΤ'. To support distance learning, links to electronic editions of the EDC's printed publications are provided on the EU website where available.
